Today's class was chill again. I was getting irritated because the call kept going in and out. For the past few days I was thinking it was my wifi but now I'm not sure. Either way, I learned about Buy Nothing Day. I did more research on it and and actually found it interesting. Honestly, I need to work on my writing. I use to be such a great writer. Being out of school took a huge toll on me.

Today we continued discussing thesis statements. We read a prompt and created a thesis statements. The lesson on AP classroom seemed very simple at first but it actually required a lot of critical thinking. It took a long time to actually understand what was asked of me. Honestly, my response was rushed. I had to go to work so I had to get ready.

Class went by pretty fast today. Once again my wifi was going in and out so I didn't get all I could from the lesson. I took notes on thesis statements and we talked about the AP exam. This class is pretty easy honestly, my only problem is being overwhelmed with other work from other classes along with this one that I just shut down out of frustration. I'm glad we got out of class early though, I was able to eat lunch and go to sleep.

I liked today's class. I liked hearing everyone's poems. Although I was unable to make a video I did write a poem. Today I heard another student mention a poem by Maya Angelou called "Hey Black Child". I had never heard of it so I read it today. My poem is about kids being strong and loving themselves. My inspiration for this poem is a small business called Hello Black Child. The theme of my poem is self love.
Hello Black Child
Hello Black Child
You are special , you are strong
You are a pretty bird, flying high
Hello black child
There’s a blinding light inside of you
They can not deny you
Be free and honor you
Hello black child
Find your peace of mind
Everything will turn out fine
See the signs
It will take time
Always do your best
Never stress about the rest

Today I only attended class for 20 minutes because I had to go to my Junior Conference. I did get a chance to do my Bell Ringer. I actually really liked the Bell Ringer question today. I've never been asked what the most offensive word to me is, it really made me think. After I left class I went to my meeting. I felt like I needed to talk more with her so I scheduled a 1 on 1 meeting with her tomorrow.

Today in class Mr. Rease told us what we really need to write in our blogs. Before I was giving an overview of what we learned in class. Now I know what to write so I will write accordingly. I didn't like how you implied that African Americans are the only people who use broken English. White people use slang all the time. A white person could have said "We real cool". Either way, I didn't get much out the lesson because my wifi kept messing up. I was so annoyed and over it that at 3:05 I just stopped trying to get back in the call and used my 5 extra minutes to get ready for work.

Today in class we continued discussing prompts. For the bell ringer, we watched a video. The message of the video was if you believe in something then you should stand on it. We discussed doing things like participating and turning our cameras on to get points that go towards our grade. We also touched back on breaking down claims and evidence.

Today in class we went over Crisis Rhetoric. We took notes on the five parts. The five parts are urgency, crisis as reality, dramatic characters, policy vs. morality, and rhetorically generative. Urgency meaning it must be demonstrated that something needs to happen right at that moment. Crisis as reality meaning showing that the crisis is affecting the audience. Dramatic characters meaning good characters vs. bad characters. Policy vs morality meaning its the right thing to do. Lastly, Rhetorically generative meaning specifically selecting someone to make them out to be evil or bad.

Today in class we talked about claims. We went over what a claim was. We also learned the proper way to write a correct claim. We went over creating claims, opinions, and arguable claims. We learned to differentiate whether a claim was arguable or if it was more so an opinion.

Today in class we went over a few things. We learned what a prominent thinker was. A prominent thinker is a person who has a well developed faculty for thinking, as a philosopher, theorist, or scholar. We discussed the question, “What does it mean to own something”, I agreed with the statement said by Jean-Paul Sartre. He proposed that ownership extends beyond objects to include intangible things. Some intangible things are skills, health, happiness, love, experiences, and talent. Some tangible things are land, vehicles, equipment, and furniture.
